Balkan Odyssey – crossing the Via Egnazia

Old roman road in the use again – Built once as an extension of the famous Via Appia which conected Rome to Brindisi, Via Egnazia had a purpose to strengthen the ties between the capital of the empire with its provinces on the east.  Starting from Durrazzo ( Albanian port) , through antic Lychnidos ( city on the Ohrid lake ) all the way to Thesaloniki (Greece) and finally Constantinople (Turkey).
